Canaanite Winter Solstice, 'Ashuru Ari

Since I am a Canaanite Pagan and I practice the religion of Natib Qadish, I celebrate a holiday different from Yule.



I look to 3500 year old tablets from the city of Ugarit in Syria for my holidays. In the Ugaritic month of ʼIbaʽlatu, the month of the winter solstice, ancient tablets note these deities as receiving offerings:

Non-European-based Paganism EXCLUDED In Pagan Definition

Recently a Pagan Delegation went to the Parliament of World Religions and created a definition of Paganism that EXCLUDES Pagan religions *not* based on ancient European cultures. It disturbs me that it is somehow assumed that all of Paganism is based on Celtic, Germanic, and Norse cultures when there is so much more to consider.
